Wu Zhou Dynasty to close Empress's chapter

My final Chapter of Empress At Forbidden City creation: Wu Zhou Dynasty for Paper On Skin Launching event After over a year, my Paper On Skin  2018 creation still going strong. The piece was invited for a numbers of exhibition here and there. Completing an artwork feels amazing. When our vision comes to lives, it is very rewarding. However, I feel like I could've done more and I have the urge to create another piece to compensate this majestic red paper dress, the very first piece of fully committed wearable art that I have ever made.  Empress At Forbidden City - Paper On Skin 2018 entry, Alif and me trying to fit it on model, Brooke. Year 2019, after winning 3 awards from the Australian Wearable Art Festival , my life yet again has changed. And the changes has made great impact for the rest of my life. The week I was flying to Queensland for the finale at Australian Wearable Art Festival, I was tested positive for being pregnant with my 4th child. Bearing a child in me is tem...

Empress At Forbidden City Chapter II - Cixi

As I have mentioned on the last post, I have been very busy with work and children and have missed out on 2 prestigious wearable art competition beginning of year 2019.  After being in the job as a Team Leader for some time, and working with a team of awesome people, my jobs get easier. That's mean my hands are getting itchy to get creative again. I saw this advertisement and posts about an event called Australian Wearable Art Festival . I seen it pop up in my newsfeed in Facebook for quite some times. I wasn't going to participate because the event take place in Queensland.  I keep going back to the post about the event and I was unsure whether I should do it.. (back and forth... back and forth... ) Not long after that I thought, oh well, let's make an entry submission. It doesn't mean I will be selected for sure at that stage. But if I am chosen as a finalist, then I will just have to commit to it.  In my submission, I drafted 1 of the most powerful woman ever live...

Life after Empress At Forbidden City 2018

Time flies.. it really does.  My inner creativity has been brought out of me. I feel re-energised and definitely felt great about the "new me". Let's keep this momentum going, don't let it stop. I been looking online in a few different sites re: wearable art. I came across this wonderful event in New Zealand called World of Wearable Art (WOW) and Wearable Art Mandurah . I must say, WOW WOW WOW... looking at their entries creations is very inspiring and I definitely want to give it a go and see how far I can push myself.  I started to draft some ideas. Some days I draft like 10 different ideas, some days I may not get to do any at all. At  that time, my career as a Support Worker has been going really well. In a very short period of time joining a new company, I have been offered a promotion as a Team Leader in a  group home as well as Respite Coordinator . I love my job. It is a very rewarding kind of work that I get to work and devote my time to the vulne...

A wishful world of golden flowers

A few months after the Paper on Skin 2018 competition, I have already planned that I want to do more in the same genre of art, want to give the WOW New Zealand and Wearable Art Mandurah a go. Besides making wearable art, I have always loved fashion at the races. I think I was kinda hooked on it when I was first involved in designing and tailoring a full race wear( hat and dress) for a beautiful girl from Devonport, for Devonport Cup Day 2014. At that time my knowledge about racing fashion was very limited. But we have Dr.Google and the internet. I went on it and had a quick look to see what race wear should looks like. Well, there should be a hat or we called it fascinator and a dress. These ladies also carry an evening clutch, maybe wearing a pair of gloves and a pair of nice high heels. Ahh, I get it, just like Audrey Hepburn, from the iconic movie, Breakfast at Tiffany. I went to Spotlight to have a browse. Spotlight is like my "second home" at that time. I am always t...
